Maine local elections
County ballots.
Town records.
A source-first view of Maine's 2026 county cycle and locally administered municipal elections, with all 16 county and 482 city, town, and plantation government desks, candidate records, official results, current officials, profiles, and visible source gaps.
Coverage ledger
The full denominator stays visible
Every Maine county and every active city, town, and plantation government in the audited Census geography stays in the index. Empty desks are explicit source findings, not assumptions that no election or office exists.

Election calendar
County deadlines and local checkpoints
The statewide county ballot and candidate deadlines are kept separate from locally scheduled annual meetings and municipal elections.

Refreshes are tied to publication dates
Write-in filings, sample ballots, municipal notices, election-night returns, and certified county results each trigger a separate source check. These checkpoints are also included in the project reminder schedule.
Maine research notes
Local publication remains part of the record
The Secretary of State publishes county candidates and results but explicitly does not oversee municipal elections or town meetings. Each municipal desk therefore preserves what its clerk or government has actually published and labels the rest as unresolved.
